Here it is – the master bathroom renovation reveal isย here! This project was started in January, I designed it in 2017 and we lived with sub floors for 3.5 years…but the end result makes it completely worth it!
Our home was built in the late 80’s and nothing had been done since then. It still had the original carpet and linoleum…even knowing it would be a few years until we could remodel the master I immediately had us pull up the carpet. I never will understand why people put carpet in bathrooms! It was too gross for me to live with that. So, we grabbed some of my mom’s old rugs and threw those down and lived with the sub floor ๐
This space is literally one we got in and out of as quickly as possible before the renovation and eventually I “moved” into our daughters hall bathroom towards the end because I couldn’t take it anymore. In our renovation we took the bathroom to the studs, added an additional closet, added a linen closet, created a more functional shower, updated the vanity and added tile floors! ๐
After all these years, I wanted this space to feel like a retreat. Being able to design the entire space from scratch was absolutely amazing. I feel like it is the one part of our house that completely has my taste and style. My husband Lucas added all the shiplap and all the wood trim details we picked out. I mixed two metals (which is my key to success in a bathroom!) champagne bronze and brush nickel. I love how these two metals blend with our Ballard Designs Aubrey Mirrors.
Our new closet doors were one of those vision I couldn’t get out of my mind. I went to Lucas and he just laughed and said “of course you want this” but he said it wouldn’t be a problem and he made my dream a reality! People ask us all the time if we do the work ourselves. And, yes we do. For this particular project Lucas and my dad put in A LOT of LONG hours. I’m so thankful for all their hard work on this renovation. We did sub some plumbing and electrical out to save time. But the majority was completed by us.
I will post another blog post with details on all of the sources but if you have any questions on materials please don’t hesitate to ask! Did you see my post Monday on all the design details for this space? Make sure to check it out here.
I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing our master bathroom reno reveal!
