DIY Valentine’s Day Banner for $0! In less than 10 Minutes!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Today I am sharing a super easy and virtually free way to make a Valentine’s Day banner. You probably have most of the materials sitting around your house.

Yes, I easily could run to the store and pick up a holiday banner, however my daughter Kinsley was napping one day and I wanted to knock out our Valentine’s Day decor – to be honest usually I just hang a banner and put some flowers out! But I surprisingly didn’t have a banner for Love Day. So I went to my holiday decor boxes and found some old pink card stock hearts and I got an idea!

What you Need:

  • Pink/Red Paper or Heart Cutouts
  • Brown Paper Bag
  • String
  • Hole Punch
  • Scissors
  • Heart Stencil (optional) you could always use a cookie cutter too!
  • Faux Floral Stems

Like I mentioned I had these pink heart cutouts in my holiday boxes. I believe I got them in the Target Dollar Spot last year. I used them as my stencil but if you don’t have any heart cutouts use your stencil or cookie cutter and trace some hearts on your paper bag.

Be sure not to trace over any handles if your bag has handles. Then cut out all your hearts.

Next measure how long your string needs to be. I used generic white string…you can use pretty much anything you have laying around! I hang our banners over our dining room shelf so I figured out how far down I wanted it to hang down.

Then I laid out the heart shapes and figured out how many I was going to use.

Next – I used the hole punch to punch 2 holes in the top of all the heart shapes. And then string your string through the holes.

After you do that you are nearly done! Hang your banner wherever you are going to put it.

You can obviously stop at this point but I wanted to add some faux florals. So the next step I did was dig out my faux tulips. To get the tulips to hang on the banner I bent the stems in half.

And then simply hang them on the banner!

There you go! It is a simple, free way to add a little Valentine’s Day decor to your home! This banner cost me $0 and took me less than 10 minutes to throw together. To me that is my type of decorating!

However – if you aren’t waiting for a kid to wake up and are at the store a few of my favorite in stores now are listed below.
