Decorating for Christmas Without Breaking the Bank!

Laila Belles - Christmas Home Decor

Before I start this post I want to begin with saying that I am participating with some extremely talented ladies next week for a holiday home blog hop “Our Homes for the Holidays” so check back next week to take a peek into our home!

That being said I created these looks for this specific post and was careful to not reveal our real decor – so check back next week!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It truly is for me 🙂 this is my ultimate FAVORITE time of the year in every aspect! I love the lights, the Christmas cheer, the decorating, the food, the gift-giving and seeing family & friends. I love how everyone dresses up, spends time together and all of the hustle and bustle the season brings. Decorating for seasons like I do makes this one even more fun! I tend to go all out for Christmas and would not have it any other way.

That being said I always get asked how do you decorate your house for the holidays without breaking the bank? The truth is…I have collected things for a long time – some even from my childhood! I also give myself a budget to get a few new hit items each season. However, someone who loves to change up décor as much as I do and who doesn’t have an unlimited budget – darn-it hubby 🙂 So I have to come up with creative ways to get those extra touches without emptying out the bank account.

One resource I love to use for all those extra add-ons that make the entire house feel complete is no other than the Dollar Tree! Seriously, the only thing I like better than decorating is finding a bargain! Then when you put those two things together? YIKES! It feels like Christmas Day for me! Who doesn’t love to grab something for $1?

There are tons of items that the Dollar Tree has that when added with your other décor pieces doesn’t look cheap or inexpensive. You know what else is awesome? You can now buy most of their items online! Until recently, you were only able to buy their products online in bulk. Therefore, if you only needed a few items it didn’t really work for you because you had to buy a box of 24. Well…many of their items are now sold in quantities of 4. Giving you a wonderful resource if your local store is sold out or if there isn’t a store near you.

How cute are these stockings? $1 each! If you are on the look out for some cute stockings for some decor in the house they really are cute. I added some Dollar Tree ornaments – the felt burlap snowflake and the white church ornament add detail without being too overwhelming.

I also am in love with these clip on magnolia flowers. They also have them in poinsettias. There are SO many options for them! You will notice I used them on the stockings here and also on the table as a place setting. These are items you can buy at your local store or online!

These are some super cute wreaths they have right now – I think they would look awesome on the back of a chair or hanging in front of your kitchen cabinets. Greenery is such a big part of decorating for the holidays. I would recommend adding in other greens from Hobby Lobby or Michael’s etc. to liven these little guys up! But they give you a great foundation. I can’t wait to share with you my DYI Dollar Tree wreaths soon!

Another item I found is this adorable red Christmas sign I added into my front porch decor. How adorable and festive is this? Look at their holiday wooden signs to add a pop of holiday to anywhere in your home! And also look for some awesome faux winter florals like the ones below. I break these guys a part and put them into trees, garland and baskets all over the house! It is an easy and affordable way to make your more expensive faux accents look fuller.

The next best thing at the Dollar tree are all the different types of ornaments! You already saw how I added some into my stairway garland. Here I added some with glass ornaments, pine cones and tree accents to create a cohesive and full tree! My biggest fear is a tree with not enough ornaments on it – YIKES! Nothing I do not like more than that. So if you need more – head over and pick some inexpensive ones up at the Dollar Tree and you will be able to create a spectacular tree. They also are super cute as party favors and place settings as you will see on a dining room table for a party.

If you are having a lot of people over for the holidays or if you are wanting to make your meal festive – pick up some adorable gold-rimmed plates and gold chargers. You cannot beat the price and they are so classic they will last year-in and year-out!

When you add them with some cute holiday table linens they are welcoming and festive.

I hope I was able to give you all some ideas! As I always say – decorating for seasons does NOT have to break the bank! You just have to be creative and think outside the box 🙂

How do you decorate for the holidays? And more importantly how many boxes to you have of Christmas decorations in storage? I plead the 5th! I won’t reveal my answer – haha
